YouTube Tests Google Gemini for Brainstorming Video Ideas
YouTube is experimenting with an integration of Google Gemini to assist creators in brainstorming video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. The new feature, called Brainstorm with Gemini, was announced on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel.
Limited Experiment Phase
A YouTube spokesperson told TechCrunch that this feature is currently available to a select group of creators as part of a limited experiment. The company plans to gather feedback from these users before deciding on a broader rollout.
Unique Edge Over Competitors
This new tool could give YouTube an advantage over other social media video platforms by offering creators a unique feature not available elsewhere. It also aligns with Google's strategy to integrate its AI technology into its video platform, encouraging creators to utilize its AI tools instead of those from competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Similarity to Previous AI Tools
Brainstorm with Gemini is similar to an AI-powered content inspiration tool YouTube tested back in May. This tool provides creators with video topic ideas based on audience interests and generates outlines of talking points to help kick-start the creation process.
Integration of Gemini AI
The spokesperson explained that creators now have the option to use the Gemini integration, which leverages AI large language models used across many Google products. YouTube aims to determine whether creators prefer the original inspiration tool, the new Gemini integration, or both.
How It Works
Creators involved in the experiment can access YouTube Studio, type a video idea into the search bar, and choose between the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. This dual-option approach allows YouTube to test the effectiveness and preference for the Gemini tool in assisting with content creation.
Focusing on Content Building
While platforms like TikTok and Instagram are focusing on using generative AI to help creators build digital versions of themselves, YouTube is concentrating on using AI technology to aid creators in developing their content.
