Wix Offers Google’s Gemini for Workspace, Enhancing Productivity
Software-as-a-Service platform Wix has started offering its customers access to Google’s Gemini for Workspace artificial intelligence (AI) tool. This marks a significant milestone as Wix becomes the first partner to provide Gemini for Workspace.
Enhancing Productivity and Innovation
“Over the last decade, Wix augmented their website building solution with the best online tools from Google — search, advertising, maps, and productivity,” said Yuval Dvir, senior director of online channels and partnerships at Google. “With our new agreement and the launch of Gemini for Workspace, they’ve become the first partner to offer Gemini, offering the best generative AI solution in the market that can orchestrate across apps and turbocharge their customers' productivity.”
Integration with Google Workspace Apps
According to the release, Gemini integrates with Google Workspace apps such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Meet. This integration allows users to perform tasks like writing documents, designing slideshows, summarizing emails, and organizing projects more efficiently.
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
“This collaboration further deepens the strategic partnership between Wix and Google, highlighting a shared commitment to innovation and providing our users with the latest tools to help them streamline their work,” said Itay Shmool, Wix’s chairman for premium and payments. “By integrating Gemini Workspace into the Wix platform, we are enabling our users to achieve new levels of productivity and creativity.”
Recent Upgrades and Expansion
The partnership comes shortly after Google launched significant upgrades to Gemini, enhancing its capabilities and expanding its reach. The new version, Gemini 1.5 Flash, is faster and more capable, offering features like a quadrupled context window for longer conversations and a new feature to combat AI hallucinations by displaying related content links within Gemini’s responses.
Broader Accessibility
Google is also making Gemini more accessible, expanding its availability to the European Economic Area, U.K., and Switzerland, and extending access to teenagers globally in over 40 languages. This expansion aims to engage younger users and broaden Gemini’s reach.
AI-Powered Tools for Merchants
Last month, Wix announced a series of AI-powered tools for building and managing websites, part of a trend among eCommerce platforms to help merchants better reach their customers. For example, Shopify is launching an AI-powered chatbot assistant called Sidekick to assist merchants with questions related to their stores, such as sales and order trends.
