• NIST Releases Dioptra: A Tool to Test AI Model Risk and Safety - The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has reintroduced a tool designed to evaluate how malicious attacks, particularly those that “poison” AI model training data, can impact AI system performance. This tool, named Dioptra, is modular, open-source, and web-based. Dioptra, initially launched in 2022, assists companies and individuals in assessing, analyzing, and tracking AI risks.

• Reddit Blocks Major Search Engines and AI Bots, Except Paying Ones - In recent weeks, Reddit has started blocking search engines from accessing recent posts and comments unless they pay for the privilege. While Google has a $60 million deal allowing it to train AI models on Reddit content, other search engines like Bing and DuckDuckGo are excluded.

Although originally released as a parody, Musk’s post did not clarify this context. The video has sparked concerns about the power of artificial intelligence to mislead, especially with Election Day just three months away.

• Orchid Unveils HIPAA-Compliant AI Scribe for Mental Health Providers - Orchid, a behavioral health electronic health record (EHR) vendor, has introduced a groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled scribe to support mental health providers and enhance patient care efficiency. • Google Uses AI to Optimize Traffic Flow and Reduce Congestion - Google is harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to optimize traffic light timings and reduce gridlock. According to the index, Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet emerged as the best overall performing model, excelling in short, medium, and long context scenarios.

• Apple Joins White House’s AI Safety Commitment, Plans AI Integration - Apple has signed the White House’s voluntary commitment to develop safe, secure, and trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI), according to a press release on Friday. Apple joins 15 other technology companies, including Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI, in committing to the White House’s guidelines for developing generative AI.
