• Inflection AI releases new AI model, claims it can beat Meta and Google’s models - Inflection-2, is substantially more capable than Inflection-1, demonstrating much improved factual knowledge, better stylistic control, and dramatically improved reasoning.

• NVIDIA CEO Huang urges faster AI development—to make it safer - At a time when some are calling for a pause on the development of generative artificial intelligence, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, has an argument for accelerating the work: AI advances are going to provide tools to better understand the technology and to make it safer, Huang said.

• Putin says West cannot have AI monopoly so Russia must up its game - Moscow has ambitions to be an AI power too, but its efforts have been set back due to the war in Ukraine which prompted many talented specialists to leave Russia and triggered Western sanctions that have hindered the country's high-tech imports.

• Meet the first Spanish AI model earning up to €10,000 per month - Rubén Cruz, her designer and founder of the agency The Clueless, decided to create their own influencer to use as a model for the brands that approached them. They created Aitana, an exuberant 25-year-old pink-haired woman from Barcelona whose physical appearance is close to perfection.

• Nvidia delays launch of new China-focused AI chip - The delayed chip is the H20, the most powerful of three China-focused chips Nvidia has developed to comply with fresh U.S. export restrictions, and could complicate its efforts to preserve market share in China against local rivals like Huawei.

• OpenAI researchers warned board of AI breakthrough ahead of CEO ouster - Ahead of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s four days in exile, several staff researchers wrote a letter to the board of directors warning of a powerful artificial intelligence discovery that they said could threaten humanity. Some at OpenAI believe Q* (pronounced Q-Star) could be a breakthrough in the startup's search for what's known as artificial general intelligence (AGI). OpenAI defines AGI as autonomous systems that surpass humans in most economically valuable tasks.

• French AI lab Kyutai secures $330 million - and bets on open source - The privately-funded French AI lab Kyutai aims to conduct open-source AI research. It already has a total budget of $330 million.

• Amazon is using AI to deliver packages faster than ever this holiday season - To help manage the holiday rush, Amazon is boasting its quickest delivery time yet, saying that packages are being prepared for dispatch within 11 minutes of an order placement at same-day facilities. That pace is an hour faster than next-day or two-day centers.
