OpenAI Partners with Condé Nast to Feature Content in ChatGPT

OpenAI has announced a new partnership with Condé Nast, the renowned publisher behind iconic titles like The New Yorker, Vogue, and Wired. This multi-year deal will enable stories from Condé Nast’s properties to be featured in OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT, as well as its search prototype, SearchGPT.

Terms of the Deal

While the exact terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch hinted in a memo to staff that the partnership involves some form of payment from OpenAI. Additionally, a Condé Nast spokesperson confirmed that OpenAI will be granted permission to train its AI models on Condé Nast’s content.

OpenAI has not provided further comments on the deal.

Growing List of Publishing Partners

Condé Nast joins a growing list of news organizations that have entered into agreements with OpenAI. Other notable partners include the Associated Press, Axel Springer, The Atlantic, Financial Times, News Corp, and Time. These collaborations are shaping how journalistic content is integrated into AI technologies, despite some concerns from reporters and editors who feel excluded from the negotiation process.
