Mixhalo Launches AI-Powered Real-Time Translation for Events

Live event audio streaming platform Mixhalo has launched a new translation feature called Mixhalo Translate, combining ultra-low latency streaming with AI-generated audio translations. This innovation aims to enhance communication at conferences and live events by providing real-time interpretation through smartphones.

Revolutionizing Event Interpretation

"Interpretation at conferences and live events is done the same way today as it was in 1995," says CEO John Vars. Contemporary interpretation rigs have seen little change over the years, but AI translation technology has advanced significantly. Today, smartphone-based language translation is commonplace, transforming how we communicate across languages.

Mixhalo's Evolution and Application

Since its debut at TechCrunch’s Disrupt conference in 2017, Mixhalo has focused on delivering board-quality sound to all event attendees, regardless of their location in the venue. Initially applied to live concerts, Mixhalo’s technology has expanded to MLB, NBA, NHL, and NASCAR events. In 2021, Mixhalo introduced Mixhalo Over Cellular, operating on 5G, and Mixhalo Rodeo, utilizing venue Wi-Fi.

AI Integration and Accessibility

Mixhalo has not revealed its AI partner for the Translate feature. The accuracy of AI-generated translations can vary, but there is potential for significant improvement. Conference attendees can access Mixhalo Translate through an app on their smartphones. At launch, the feature supports interpretation and transcription in 50 languages.

Potential Impact

The integration of AI translation into Mixhalo's platform promises to modernize event interpretation, making it more accessible and efficient. This development could be particularly impactful in conference settings, enhancing the experience for multilingual attendees.
