Microsoft's AI Designer App Now on iOS and Android

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that its AI-powered Designer app is now available to all users on iOS and Android. The Canva-like app allows users to generate images and designs using text prompts to create items such as stickers, greeting cards, invitations, and collages. Designer is accessible in more than 80 languages on the web, as a free mobile app, and as an app in Windows.

Creative Templates and Customization

The app includes “prompt templates” to help users jumpstart their creative process. These templates offer styles and descriptions that can be customized, and users can share templates to collaborate and build on each other’s ideas. In addition to stickers, Designer enables the creation of emojis, clip art, wallpapers, monograms, avatars, and more with text prompts.

Advanced AI Editing Tools

Designer also features advanced AI tools for editing and restyling images. Users can upload selfies and choose from various styles, adding extra details to transform their photos. The app will soon include a “replace background” feature, allowing users to use text prompts to change the background of their images.

Integration with Other Microsoft Services

With the launch of the standalone Designer app, Microsoft is integrating the service into apps like Word and PowerPoint through Copilot. Users with a Copilot Pro subscription can create images and designs within their workflow. Soon, users will have the option to create a banner in Word based on the document’s content.

Enhanced Microsoft Photos Integration

Microsoft also announced deeper integration of Designer with Microsoft Photos on Windows 11. Users can now edit photos using AI directly within the Photos app, performing tasks such as erasing objects, removing backgrounds, and auto-cropping images without leaving the app.
