Microsoft Clipchamp Adds Free AI Features for Enhanced Video Editing

Microsoft is rolling out two new AI-powered features in its Clipchamp video editor, designed to help users enhance their video content effortlessly. Available to Microsoft 365 Insiders, these features—noise suppression and image background removal—are set to upgrade the quality of your videos, whether you’re a free or paid user of Clipchamp.

AI-Powered Noise Suppression

Background noise can easily ruin an otherwise great video, whether it’s a soft hum or a loud sound. Clipchamp’s new noise suppression feature addresses this issue by using AI to reduce unwanted background sounds without affecting foreground audio, such as your voice or music.

To use this feature, open your video in the Clipchamp video editor timeline, click on the Audio icon in the right panel, and select "Noise suppression." Once activated, the AI will automatically remove distracting background noises, allowing the main audio to shine through.

Image Background Removal

A cluttered or distracting background can take attention away from the main action in your video. The new image background removal tool allows you to clean up your video by eliminating unwanted backgrounds.

To try it out, right-click on any image in your video and select the "Remove background" option. After removing the existing background, you can replace it by layering a new video or image behind the foreground, giving your content a fresh, professional look.

How to Access the New Features

While these AI tools are available to both free and paid Clipchamp users, there’s a catch—you’ll need to be a member of the Microsoft 365 Insiders club to access them.

Joining the Microsoft 365 Insiders club is straightforward. Open any Microsoft 365 application, such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Go to the File menu, click on Account, and select the Microsoft 365 Insider option. Follow the steps to join the Insider program. It’s worth noting that since you’ll be downloading an insider’s build of the suite, you might want to do this on a spare PC.

With these new AI features, Clipchamp continues to offer valuable tools for video creators, making it easier to produce high-quality content directly from your Windows device.
