Submission of Emma Marx ~ A romance in the submission porn genre from New Sensations starring Penny Pax, Riley Reid, Richie Calhoun, and Van Wylde. Directed by Jacky St. James and Eddie Powell on a single disc with the standard behind the scenes, photo galleries, and extracted sex scenes.
As Emma Marx rises to leave William Frederickís office he touches her hand and says, "You are absolutely breathtaking."
Thus starts Emma on a BDSM journey that redefines her vision of what it means to be normal.
Williamís remark also describes the three components that turn this film into art: A solid story, creative directing, and a terrific cast with a rising superstar.
The story is a tale of counterpoints. Emma, played by the superlative Penny Pax, is the opposite of her petulant and self-centered sister, Nadia (Riley Reed). Comfortable with her vanilla lifestyle, Nadia is ready for marriage while Emma ventures into a D/s relationship with the kinky Mr. Frederick, played by Richie Calhoun. The couples are themselves counterpoints. Nadia and Rayís conformity is indicative of our social media age; Emma and Williamís mutual exploration is psychologically steeped in BDSM.
The sex scenes also counterbalance one another. Nadia and Ray open the film with a delightfully straight forward and entertaining romp. There are rose pedals all around to underscore the cuddly feel of an engaged couple. When Emma and William get together, each of the scenes has a dramatic purpose, offering different looks at Emmaís education in her kink, itself a step ladder of growth. Emma and William will never be a lifetime of happiness in the missionary position. Their sex is driven by Emmaís discovery of a raw fetish that reminds this reviewer of a pair of classic films that built the careers of two porn legends: Marilyn Chambers in Behind the Green Door (1972) and Georgina Spelvin in the Devil in Miss Jones (1973).
Is Penny Pax as Emma that good? Yes. The story dictates the sex which drives the narrative and frames the larger realities of the characters. It is hard hitting and emotional and rides on the talent of Penny Pax, a porn icon in the rough who likes it rough.
Pay particular attention to Emmaís reluctant submission to anal sex. She canít believe she will beg for something she doesnít want. The scene is couples-friendly, staying clear of gonzo's health risky ATM. In reality, Penny's an anal aficionado and her acting ability to pull off a newbie's role is sensational. Her genuine ecstasy and orgasm will encourage any doubting female viewer to give rear entry a go.
By the way, the filmís writer, Jacky St. James, teams with Eddie Powell as co-director. Her insights on how a woman experiences sexual awakenings is worth the price of the DVD. For his part, Powell is a master at framing shots and moving the camera through a scene. Without the collaboration of all those involved in the production, Emma Marx would not be the masterpiece that it is.
Emmaís bargain with William cements her emotionally and physically into BDSM play. Accompanied by classical music with religious-like overtones, the fetish that unites is the tale told here. Emmaís sexual epiphany and Williamís Zen-like peace create an interstellar bond of kinky pleasures that eclipse Nadia and Rayís bickering relationship of horny sex.
The final sex scene is far too intense to describe here. Emma, who serves penance for failing her own desires, is pleasured while helplessly bound. Penny Pax and Richie Calhoun sweep up the viewer into a steamrolling scene that couples will love. Pennyís authentic orgasms are the movieís triumph.
Emma Marx is more than a sexual revelation, itís a feminist statement, for Emma maintains her own personhood beyond William. For BDSMers, the film demystifies the supposed deviancy of their passion. But most important, the story lets us know that sexual desire comes in many forms with confounding emotions darting among our fantasies.
If you see one movie this year, see this one. Itís breathtaking.
