Fantasm 2003 Convention Atlanta

(ATLANTA, GA) -- Fantasm bills itself as "The convention your mother warned you about", and even though those are high expectations, the show didn't disappoint. For those of you who have never heard of Fantasm, I'll describe it as kind of science fiction meets a porn/fantasy show.
With activities like pornographic pictionary, an x-rated hypnotist, spanking and S&M demonstrations, and their popular slave auction there was just about something for everybody. In it 5th year, Fantasm draws attendees from all over the United States as well as a high concentration from the Southeast, with the show being now held annually in Atlanta. Fantasm has a dedicated following, and most attendees agree it was one of the more well organized shows of this size and realm they've ever attended.
While activities keep the con going throughout the day and into the night, the real action takes place when the parties gear up each night. The top two floors of the hotel were reserved for Fantasm attendees, and theme and wild parties abound. A marketplace area was set up in an adjacent ballroom where goos were bought and sold. Artwork, costumes, and sculptures were just a few of the items up for sale by the different vendors. A New Orleans based t-shirt manufacturer caught my eye with all sorts of novelty shirt ideas all on black/goth style t-shirts, the name of the company is SighCo, and their website is worth checking out at SighCo.com.
The popular Texas-based Western/punk band "Ghoultown" played a concert to an excitable group of fans on Saturday night. Ghoultown will be releasing a new CD this year and will be working on the soundtracks for a couple of horror films in which they will also have a cameo.
I visited with Miss Fantasm 2002, Eugie from Atlanta and she couldn't have been nicer, and sad that her reign as Miss Fantasm was coming to an end this weekend. A new Miss Fantasm will hopefully have just as successful a reign, hoped Eugie.
