Scumbags! The Adult Industry seems to have some sexual scumbags within its ranks, not unlike some other sectors of the business world, society, and life. I have some personal opinions about these alleged scumbag predators, but let me first mention a few other happenings of late.

Though many adult sites seem to have suffered from the summer doldrums, others were not significantly affected by surfers staying outdoors until later in the evening when the sun finally set; luckily, my DaveCummings.com kept purring along, perhaps because I have a somewhat niche site with lots of free stuff in the guest's section, as well as a 6+ Gig member's area that attracts not only middle-age and older gentlemen but also appeals to the 21-45 year olds who like the idea of seeing beautiful young porn girls, including some amateurs.

I refuse to have pop-ups, and I make available an extensive links section of/to interesting sites (e.g. SexualWorldRecords.com , TheIndustryVoice.com , AdultMatchDoctor.com ) as well as to swinger's and famous porn girls sites! Lots of other adult sites did, however, endure some stagnation due to this past summer's slowdown period. And, new sites are popping up all over the place, thus increasing competition for traffic and members. A second thought I have about the Internet relates to my sensing that it's not a particularly good time to sock a lot of investment cash into bookstores, some of which might see the Internet coveting the customers of adult videos and novelties. Technology is advancing in leaps and bounds, and Video-on-Demand/Pay-Per-View, as well as streaming video, makes it convenient for consumers to patronize the Internet instead of having to physically go to a bookstore for adult products. It's long been my contention that the Internet is the future of adult product distribution and availability.

Like other summers, porn productions slowed down somewhat to account for vacations, the weather/heat of the San Fernando Valley, and possibly because of a glut of already-shot footage. The slowdown prompted lots of calls from actresses willing to drive to San Diego for filming bookings!

SCUMBAGS

Ok, let me sort of rant about what I perceive as "scumbags". First and foremost, please recognize and fully understand that the following comments are merely my personal opinions. Though my personal opinion is Constitutionally protected by the First Amendment, I unavoidably will not name names lest I possibly subject myself to libel/slander problems. Frankly, I'm appalled by the reports I hear from and/or about some of the girls in the Industry who experience strong "hints" as well as outright coercion to provide certain scumbags with blowjobs and/or other sexual favors as a condition to get bookings.

Scumbags might include folks such as a small (but devastating?) number of directors, casting officials, producers, other talent members, production assistants, crew members, still photographers, Internet content photographers, so-called "managers", location owners and/or their gawking friends who think the girls will surely want to "do" them, cameramen, editors, and others associated with the Industry. To me the "casting couch" coercion seems as morally and ethically wrong as it would be to take advantage of a girl under the influence of alcohol - I feel that it's akin to criminal behavior to coerce or treat girls thusly!

Now, having rendered my foregoing opinion, I readily realize that some girls might have seduced folks in order to get bookings, or something. I also understand that some girls escort. But, no girl should ever be harassed or pushed into sexual favors; no girl should have to "beg" or become prey just to get her talent fee, or a check that won't bounce; no girl should have to arrive on set only to be told that her talent fee is being lowered and/or that she has to do additional guys or acts not previously agreed to; no girl should have to feel pressured into having sex with talent unless it's part of the agreed scene being filmed; no girl should have to worry about some non-talent scumbag casting couch addict who didn't have the appropriate HIV test (keep in mind that condoms sometimes break); no girl should have to fight off advances; and, the list goes on and on.

I sometimes wonder if the scumbags actually believe some of the fantasies portrayed in some poor-plotted porn videos? Contrary to what some folks think, very Few porn girls walking down the street or into a supermarket want to suck every cock within a 2-mile radius! And, not every scumbag is so charming and handsome that porn girls will undoubtedly want to "do" them.

Yes, some of the scumbags are new to the scene, some having bought camcorders and/or digital cameras as a way to legitimize themselves as "Producers" or "Internet Content Providers" so as to gain access to models, and possibly get laid! Other scumbags are not new to the Industry.

How would you feel if your daughter/relative/acquaintance, or an aspiring porn actress known by one of your friends, relatives, or co-workers, was allegedly drugged and raped by a scumbag? Resultantly, she subsequently might be psychologically and emotionally damaged, have a lowered sense of self-esteem, can't sleep nights, feels scarred or dirty, flees to drugs, or is in need of significant help to recover from what the scumbag did to her? Why should any porn girl, not just the new, impressionable, naive ones, have to endure such a criminal act as being drugged/raped? I understand that a number of porn girls, mostly new ones entering the Industry over the past couple of years have alleged that they were drugged and raped by a certain Industry insider/scumbag; that the FBI looked at the allegations from a jurisdictional viewpoint; and, that the DA formal criminal investigation subsequently found and reported 8-9 victims but couldn't arrest the scumbag due to witness problems - sadly, that scumbag is still in our Industry! If the allegations are true, he is among the worst of the scumbags. Additionally, there are many other scumbags harassing the actresses for sex.

I call upon Industry insiders at all echelons, especially company owners and major leaders within the Adult Industry, to become even more vigilant and pro-active to rid the Industry of the scumbags who infect it. Though the numbers of scumbags is relatively low, they nevertheless exist and should be pressured to reform, or be fired.

Yes, there are sexual scumbags in many other industries, but we can and should quickly rid the Adult Industry of the predator scumbags that are preying upon the girls.

That's my personal opinion, and "rant". I hope, indeed I pray, that the leaders and insiders of the Adult Industry will treat the scumbag infection and get our Industry back to health.
