Myles' Weekend Adventures: The Deep Throat Sex Scandal Revisited
Bonjour mon amis! Comment ca va? Myles Shaffer here. This will be a short column about taking my other half to see a live play. So if anybody is curious about what we did, they should read on.
The Deep Throat Sex Scandal Revisited
Sunday evening, February 3, I took my executive-vice-president-in-charge-of-back-seat-driving to the Zephyr Theater to see the play, "The Deep Throat Sex Scandal," and to get a second large helping of great laughs for myself. (I laughed at the play, not my other half.) [I'm glad for the sake of your marital bliss you made that clear, Myles! -Ed.]
The guest stars for this particular week were the renowned Hollywood actress Sally Kirkland and comedian/comedy writer Bruce Vilanch.
During Frank Blocker's portrayal of prosecuting attorney Larry Parrish giving his summation speech during Harry Reems obscenity trail, in Memphis, Tennessee, Bruce Vilanch very nearly upstaged Mr. Blocker without speaking a single word. Just his postures and facial expressions in response to what Parrish was saying was uproariously hilarious! (The same held true during the scene in which everybody in the court room was supposedly watching the "Deep Throat" film as part of the prosecution's evidence. [I would be greatly surprised if anybody ever manages to make that scene so funny as Mr. Vilanch did without ever making a single sound.])
Sally Kirkland also did a great and very funny job of portraying the adult theater cashier in the play!
Even though it was my second time to see the play, I enjoyed it and laughed just so much as I did on opening night!
I highly recommend that anybody who can go to see the play do so. (I have seen the play twice already, and I would not mind seeing it again at least one or two more times.)
Anybody who might be interested in seeing the play can go to DeepThroatThePlay.com for all of the information about the play, who the guest stars will be during which weeks, the cost of tickets, and to order tickets.
And that will be a wrap for now good people. We should all meet back here the next time to see just what it is that I manage to get myself into next. Until then, everybody stay safe, have a great week, and live life as if there were no tomorrow!
Bonsoir et au revoir,
