Mile High Media launched Sweetheart Video in February 2008. It got 2 AVN Award nominations and, early in 2009, three Feminist Porn Awards nominations. This year the company is again an AVN award nominee. It also has nominations for the XBIZ Awards.
Mile High Media launched SweetSinner Video in January 2009 and has just won two AVN Award nominations as well as another two for the XBIZ Awards.
Sweetheart Video has been given a nomination for Best Studio of the Year by XBIZ. Their contract girl, Elexis Monroe, was first nominated for an AVN Award in 2008 for a scene with Leighlani in Elexis and her Girlfriends. The long awaited sequel, Elexis Unleashed, was released too late to be considered for a nomination this year. (the first of her boy girl scenes for Sweetsinner has just been released and should be amongst the front runners for an award nomination next year.) Whilst she isn't a nominee she's in many scenes in the series that was chosen.
Lesbian Adventures includes videos dedicated to tribbing, strap on sex, older younger pairings and lingerie. The latest , Victorian Love Letters , has a quality cast full of nominees for the 2010 AVN Awards; Nicole Ray, Magdalene Saint Michaels, Melissa Monet, Julia Ann and Zoe Britton. Nica makes one of her rare appearances in front of the camera with fellow nominee Nina Hartley.
The scene with Samantha Ryan and Mia Presley from Girls Kissing Girls 01 was nominated in 2008. The series was also nominated for Best All Girls release. It's got the latter nomination again this year. One of the finest kissers in the business, Samantha Ryan, is back in a scene with Nikita Denise in Girls Kissing Girls 03.
Nica's intention with Sweetsinner was to make couples porn as far away as possible from the rougher style of the Gonzo series that dominate the market. The eight titles that have so far been released have been highly praised and the company has, deservedly, won a nomination for the Best New Line. XBIZ gave it a nomination for New Studio of the Year.
Nica's friend and fellow New Yorker, Melissa Monet has been nominated for Best Actress in Sweetsinner's My Daughter's Boyfriend. She stars with Nina Hartley and Nicole Ray. She has scenes with Sweetsinner regulars, James Deen, and Jay Crew. The two male performers star alongside Shayla LeVeaux and Jandi Lin in Naughty Neighbours which is an XBIZ nominee for Feature Movie of the Year.
The first Sweetheart Video, Lesbian Confessions Vol 1, and the first Sweetsinner Video, the Stepmother, starred Stephanie Swift. It's a pity that at a time when she's struggling to fight cancer that she didn't get some acknowledgment. Nica has been nominated as Best Director both by AVN and XBIZ. She first got behind the camera for Girlfriends Films in 2007. She's more than proved her qualities as the screenwriter and director of almost 50 films.
