Retailers are responding enthusiastically to new sales incentives (PPM is offering retailers a New Car and savings all month in August) coupled with the ability to custom order both new and hard-to-find titles from PPM’s new merchandise catalog.
PPM is showing a steady increase in catalog sales confirming the new tool to be a key component, offering retailers access to PPM’s entire library of titles. Retailers are finding the new distribution method is the perfect fit for their needs in the changing adult DVD market.
Pure Play Media National Sales Manager, Bill Rix, explains what’s making the difference to retailers. ''Basically, we are seeing a significant increase in our catalog sales as a result of D2R. ''the main advantage retailers are discovering is ordering back catalog items. We always expected to do well in new releases, but we're going to win this battle in the catalog end of the business. With the old method it was very difficult for a retailer to get the catalog because it was a cumbersome process.
Wholesalers didn’t carry it — they can't carry everyone's catalog — so if a retailer wanted a catalog item, they’d have to contact their wholesaler, the wholesaler contacted us to find out what we have, we’d tell the wholesaler and then the wholesaler went back to the retailer. Then it had to be shipped from us to the wholesaler to the retailer. Retailers really like the fact that we can tell them exactly what we have and we can ship it out to them right away. Cutting out additional steps is a big, big plus!''
