• Adobe’s new AI-powered Premiere Pro features eradicate boring audio editing tasks - The Enhanced Speech dialogue clean-up tool is getting a full release, while Adobe adds new beta features like interactive fade handles and clip effects badges.

• AI can now copy your handwriting. We're concerned - Researchers at the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in Abu Dhabi say they developed an AI tool that can pretty closely copy a person's handwriting. The researchers said that the model needed just a few paragraphs of writing to be trained.

• Stability AI's 'stable-code-3b' model - Stable Code 3B is a 3 billion parameter Large Language Model (LLM), allowing accurate and responsive code completion at a level on par with models such as CodeLLaMA 7b that are 2.5x larger. Operates offline even without a GPU on common laptops such as a MacBook Air.

• PlayStation Exclusive Foamstars Has AI-Generated Art, Square Enix Confirms - The game — which launches into PlayStation Plus on February 6 — uses AI-generated art for certain assets, but claimed most of the game is made by actual developers.

• Baidu denies any ties to reported Chinese military training on its GenAI chatbot - Scientists say they're training a military system based on Baidu's Ernie Bot. The Chinese tech giant refutes having any links to such research.

• OpenAI’s Sam Altman says human-level AI is coming but will change world much less than we think - OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said artificial general intelligence, or AGI, could be developed in the “reasonably close-ish future.” AGI is a term used to refer to a form of artificial intelligence that can complete tasks to the same level, or a step above, humans.

• Altman says ChatGPT will have to evolve in “uncomfortable” ways - OpenAI's next big model "will be able to do a lot, lot more" than the existing models can. Altman believes future AI products will need to allow "quite a lot of individual customization" and "that's going to make a lot of people uncomfortable," because AI will give different answers for different users, based on their values preferences and possibly on what country they reside in.

• Teen deepfake victim pushes for federal law targeting AI-generated explicit content - A teenage victim of nonconsensual sexually explicit deepfakes joined Rep. Joe Morelle, D-N.Y., on Tuesday to advocate for a bipartisan bill that would criminalize sharing such material at the federal level.

• World's first news network powered by generative AI to launch in March - The goal of Channel One News is to bring personalized bulletins to the public, depending on their news interests and preferred presenters. There will be real but also AI-generated anchors – avatars based on real people who are paid for the use of their image.

• China issues draft guidelines for standardizing AI industry - The draft proposes to form more than 50 national and industry-wide standards for AI by 2026. It also said China aimed to participate in forming more than 20 international standards for AI by that time.

• DeepMind AI solves geometry problems at star-student level - Algorithms are now as good at geometry as some of the world’s most mathematically talented school kids.
